Hamilton City Council libraries are far more than just buildings full of books, they are the functioning resource of our communities. Regardless of what some are suggesting or inferring, libraries are essential, warm, friendly spaces that serve all residents both young and old. Libraries will always be ensured of investment and support.

In this digital world, libraries offer something rare that is free access to knowledge, connection, and community. They’re places where young minds are developed through play groups and reading programs, where students can find a quiet place to study, and where older residents stay engaged and connected through access to reading, learning and connections. For many, especially those without reliable internet or access to books at home, the library is a vital service.

Hamilton's libraries are safe, welcoming spaces where ideas are exchanged, cultures are celebrated, and support is available. Whether it’s help with a CV layout, learning digital literacy, finding local history, or simply a friendly chat, the library staff provide real value in people’s lives, each and every day they open.

As our city grows, the role of our libraries becomes even more important. They are an essential conduit for a healthy, informed, and expanding Hamilton. Every suburb with a library gains more than just a building; it gains a hub, a place where belonging and learning flourish through access in so many ways.

To undervalue libraries is to underestimate the value of learning and community. Hamilton City Libraries are not just shelves of books, they are platforms for knowledge and information. Protecting and enhancing them is a duty we all share if we want a city that supports every resident. To suggest otherwise is ridiculous.

Hamilton’s future deserves libraries that are funded, respected, and recognised for what they truly are: the quiet engines of a smarter, stronger, and more connected city,to suggest anything else is nonsense.
